“Lambeth council need been praised sometimes”

I am kind of taking aback by the attack on Lambeth council's officers especially Derek Anderson at our AGM, it seems to me that we've developed a culture in this country whereby , we can only see the negative part of things but ignoring the other parts that are positive. The council had a rocky beginning to the present administration because of the change of the political land scape and a new CEO in place.
Some of us do not understand the complexity of local authority structure and the normal procedure to followed if we have a problem with our local government, it is vital and important to identify which department & whom is responsible (this information is available at your local library and display at the town hall foyer) before writing a complain , it is always a good idea to phone the relevant department and asked for the name of the officer who would be dealing with your complain. Alternatively, address your letter to the director of whichever department you need (writing to the director will get your letter to the right person in the end but not mean that it would be quicker to resolve the issue)
Be polite, you're dealing with a fellow human just like yourself, a little thank you here and there does motivate people just like how you feel when been appreciated by others.
Lambeth council as actually change but it can do better, they have good policies gathering dust in some cabinet or drawers in the offices, but there is slight problem whenever a new person comes in, they always wanted to lay down a new marker (with intention to improve services) that could be tedious sometimes because of political shenanigan which as got nothing to do with the officers of the council. I am a labour party support ( a full paid up member any donation is upfront)
but that does not stop me from asking difficult questions off the cabinet members or supporting protest that elevate the issue around disable people in Lambeth.
RESPECT is what I am talking about for one another.
Difficult decision sometimes as to be made, we don't like it when it goes against us, world economy is taking a battering and it affect all of us because we live in one global economy, we are all in one huge constituencies ( a sneeze in USA' a cough in China and some flu in Japan) does affect you and me plus them.
A reasonable approach, effective negotiation and goodwill from all side does help, let celebrate what is good about this borough and worked on those that need working on.
I am not suggesting that you need to fall in love with Steve Read (leader of the council) or give Donatus Anyanwu (cabinet member for Elder services) a kiss when you see him but leave Derek Anderson alone "that man is doing his best" when need to praise Lambeth council sometimes, maybe'just maybe
Ebenezer
HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Ebenezer, why do you judge me? How can you know I’m bitter; you don’t even know me? You see my remarks as bitter; when in reality they are the result of an oblique sense of humour – judge me not, lest thee be judged (I read that in some comic or another). When did the world change; when did we all become equal? When are the greedy and exploitative going to be told? When do you intend telling the poor and dispossessed? Who is going to let Gordon Brown into this universal truth? Which of us will shed the scales from the eyes of George Bush?
I only ask, because I don’t observe anything like equality in my day-to-day dealings with people. Most of the disabled people I know can’t find work in this ‘equal’ world; many make a choice this weather between good sustainable food and heating – this is the measure of equality they enjoy.
The idea that there is rank or hierarchy within the Council is risible. Derek is a ‘civil servant’; there to look after his salary and pension.
Where did you ever dig up such a notion that dying is expensive? It’s not; it never has been. In fact, dying is so cheap and in such an abundance; it’s about the only thing the west allows massive investment in, in the developing world.
The cost of funerals; well, that’s another thing.
Ebenezer, I’ll stay alive; cos, talking to you makes it all worth while.

Ok, so your suggestion is that we, people at the bottom of the system, leave people near the top of the system, Derek Anderson alone? One minute, while I roll over and die.Satisfied?
