Warmer Homes Lambeth’s free energy advice for private tannants/ owners

The council in partnership with the Greater London Energy Efficiency Network (GLEEN) is carrying out a year long programme of home visits to help local residents reduce their fuel bills. This will be relevant for people who rent privately or own their own property and should benefit up to 1.374 homes within the borough. This free service called ‘Warmer Homes’ offers homeowners and private tenants an opportunity to benefit from a home energy assessment carried out by a trained adviser.

In addition to carrying out the energy audits, the adviser can also suggest lifestyle changes that could help reduce energy use and assess householders’ eligibility for relevant grants or discount schemes - they can also make referrals to these schemes.

The home visits will initially take place in the Knights Hill and St. Leonards wards of the borough and will be available until 31 January 2011. The service is also available to vulnerable householders in privately rented or owned accommodation - those over 65 or in receipt of an income or disability related benefit - regardless of where they live in Lambeth.

If you fulfil the above criteria and would like to book an appointment for an energy audit, call GLEEN on 0800 652 3158. People living in social housing should contact their landlord where there are issues with fuel bills or affordable warmth, or call the Energy Saving Trust on 0800 512 012 for free, impartial advice on energy efficiency and reducing fuel bills.
