Disabled Person’s Freedom Pass

Due to backlog of freedom pass renewals that came in March, Lambeth has been experiencing delay with issuing the new freedom passes. For that reason they extended the freedom pass deadline for old passes for an extra two months until the new passes get issue. In the meantime if you have a freedom pass whose deadline is end of March 2010, you will be able to use it until end of May 2010. However to use it you will not be able to swipe it but instead youwill have to show it to the bus intsructor who will let you pass through. That is only until you receive the new pass.

Lambeth also announced how it will be dealing with applications from people with mental health problems for the Freedom Pass. Later in 2010 it will be consulting on its proposed new discretionary criteria for people with mental health problems.

People with mental health problems who currently receive their pass on a discretionary basis will have their pass reissued for one year only (until 31st March 2011).

New applications from people with mental health problems cannot be considered under discretionary criteria until the Council has formally agreed these.
