Advice is a vital service for Disabled People. We’re looking for an experienced advice worker who can make a difference

Part Time 21 – 28 hours per week (negotiable)
Salary £17,400 – £23,200 per annum inclusive
One year maternity cover to July 2019

DASL is an established Disabled People’s Organisation providing a range of services, including advice and information, support for victims of hate crime, professional advocacy, Personal Budgets support, and sport and activities programmes for Disabled people in Lambeth.

Our Senior Advice Worker will be on maternity leave from August 2018 and we are looking for someone who can take on managing our small but busy Advice Service for a year. You will be our main caseworker, principally dealing with welfare benefits. You will also supervise the casework of any other staff or volunteers working on the service and liaise closely with DASL colleagues to ensure that your clients can access our other services and those of our partners. We hold the Advice Quality Standard and you will work with the Director to ensure the ongoing quality of the service.

You should have at least two years experience of advising on welfare benefits including some appeals work. A basic knowledge of debt and housing advice would be helpful but is not essential and training will be provided as required.  We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team but is able to work self sufficiently. You should have good interpersonal skills to work with our diverse range of Disabled clients including those with mental health problems, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for them.
