RP-HM1-19AUG18 - Carer to escort boy with epilepsy to school, Waterloo SE19

Job reference: RP-HM1-10AUG18
Closing date: 19 August, 2018

Our son is a kind and considerate boy who is a genuine pleasure to spend time with. We are looking for someone who can take him to school via train from Waterloo station to Motspur park, which his school is located directly adjacent to. The train journey time is 22 minutes, the trains are extremely regular with each trip taking a predictable 1 hour 30 minutes.
Collection time would be 7:45 to catch 8:09 train on weekdays.
His diagnosis of epilepsy means he presents with irregular but frequent seizures of several types, which on the whole are brief but potentially dangerous to him as he may fall, therefore we require a carer who will pay close attention to him at all times.
Occasionally he will experience a stronger seizure, which if prolonged, does require the administration of his recovery medicine via an oral syringe (no needle). These types seizures are thankfully very rare but we must be confident that his carer is prepared for them.
The ideal candidate is someone who is patient, caring and responsible, preferably with first hand knowledge of epilepsy and ideally first aid trained although we will also provide support and advice through our dedicated epilepsy nurse.
This is a job for someone happy to spend 1.5 hours a day with an easy going boy and which should be a pleasure as much as it is a responsibility.
Job includes hourly rate and transport costs.

£10.20 per hour, 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year.
Hours including return journeys will be between 7:30 - 9:30am.
Closing date for applications 19th August 2018.
