Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) provides a wide range of services to Disabled people in Lambeth including advice, information, professional and hate crime advocacy, Direct Payments support, social and sports activities and peer support services. Through the Lambeth Independent Living and Carers Partnership we also work with older people and carers. Since we were established as a new independent charity in 2001 we have grown to become Lambeth’s leading pan-impairment Disabled People’s Organisation.

The Administration and Finance Worker is a new post which will provide a central administrative and finance support resource for the senior management team. The role will encompass general office and HR administration, managing the administration of our growing membership of Disabled people, maintaining financial records, co-ordinating IT issues with our external IT support provider and the supervision of general office volunteers.

You must have strong problem solving, planning, organisational and communication skills and be able to manage your own work and meet deadlines.  You should be a competent user of MS office packages and have experience of setting up and managing office systems. Some experience of bookkeeping, using social media and websites in a work context and managing staff or volunteers would be an advantage.

As well as taking this work forward you will also manage specialist staff working on our Disability Hate Crime and Into Sport services and lead on developing a number of areas in our Strategic Plan 2018 – 2021 including support for young Disabled people and increasing training and employment opportunities for Disabled people.

We are looking for a creative individual who shares our vision of an inclusive society where Disabled people enjoy equal rights and opportunities, and where diversity is valued. The successful candidate will have some experience of managing staff and / or projects, a sound understanding of the issues affecting Disabled people, a positive approach to partnership working and skills to support and involve Disabled people in shaping the services they need and use.

“A” is a loving and friendly autistic young woman who loves to be out and about in the community.  She can be very vocal at times and quiet at other times.  She needs reassurance with unfamiliar situations and need things to be explained to her beforehand.  A’s behaviour can be challenging at times, but not uncontrollable.
A Personal Assistant is required to collect A from home three days a week, to accompany her to her centre and collect her from the centre, at the end of the day.
Location of centre: Share Community Garden. The garden is based in the grounds of Springfield Hospital, Tooting.

Days and time needed:
Monday, Tuesday and Friday – 8am to 10am, and 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
Total of 12 hours per week (4 hours per day, 3 days).

It would be helpful if the PA is patience, caring, understanding and empathetic, but also need to be firm but fair.
It would be useful if the PA can drive, but A is able to travel by public transport if necessary.
£10.20 per hour, permanent contract, 5.6 weeks paid annual leave pro rata.
