Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board
The Board is a part of the Lambeth’s Local Strategic Partnership, Lambeth First, which brings together representatives from NHS Lambeth, Lambeth Council, the voluntary and community sector and other service providers and service users and carers.
The role of the Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board is to ensure services for adults with physical and sensory impairments or long term health conditions are planned across sectors on a whole system basis ensuring an integrated and co-ordinated approach to service delivery. The involvement of service users and carers is essential to making the Board effective and accountable.
The Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board is currently consulting on its new five year strategy - for more see our special page. Once this is finalised the Board intends to review its membership to make sure that the right organisations are represented and to set up new working groups to deliver the strategy’s work programme effectively.
There will be five meetings of the Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board in 2010. One of these will be a special AGM. The Board’s Strategy Group, which plans the work of the Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board, meets between every Board meeting.

User Representatives Pool
To ensure that the disabled people on the Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board have a range of experience to draw from, our aim is that user representatives should come from disability user and support groups. These may be condition-specific groups such as the Lambeth and Southwark Stroke User Network or more general groups such as the Lambeth Pan-Disability Forum.
How does the Pool work?
Depending on interests and ensuring the variety of views are represented a delegation from the Pool will be elected to attend the Board. This delegation will vary from meeting to meeting, depending on what is discussed.
This differs from that way representation is done on Lambeth Older People’s Partnership Action Board, where groups have a representative elected directed on the Board. This, however, would not be possible for the Lambeth Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board as there as simply too many user and support groups. The Pool also has some other advantages, in that it takes some of the pressure off individual representatives and allows them to specialise in area of interest to them.
What support can user representatives expect?
User representatives are given support by our User Involvement Worker and are invited to a User Representatives Meeting prior to every Board meeting. At this meeting the agenda of the Board is discusses to ensure the representatives are clear about the issues involved and thus can fully participate at the Board.
User representatives are reimbursed for expenses that they may incur, and there are training opportunities. If you would like more information or would like to know how you could become a user representative please contact Richard Farnos, DASL’s User Involvement Worker on 020 7642 2054 or email: Richard.farnos@disabilitylambeth.org.uk
